Server Tagging for Service Creation
The tag required to tag servers together to form a Service is AppID.
Note: The AppID is case-sensitive so needs to be as AppID:<AppName>.
Example: Tagging servers using the Illuminate 360 UI:
- Select the required servers to be tagged together, click the option to Add Tag (top left), then specify the tag and service name (AppID:<service name>).
- Click Apply Tag. You should be able to see that the servers are now tagged with the tag AppID:<service name>.
- A few minutes later the new tagged service will start appearing within the Services as a mapped Service.
Server Tagging: Single server supporting multiple services:
If you have some servers that are linked to multiple servers and you need to create additional AppID’s, the process would be to create a new Template with a new AppID, which once created, and the tag has been added to the servers will automatically add to them as a new service.
An example would be you already have AppID:CST linked to servers A & B, you need to create another service that Server B is also linked to, this service is called CST2, so you need to create a template that will search for AppID1 and create a new Service called CST2.
- To create a new template, go to Catalog in the UI and click on ADM Model Configs.
- Create and new template by clicking the +New, type in Service for Classname and provide details in the description of AppID1 tagged servers.
- You can then add the required syntax in attached to create the template for the new AppID1
- Save the template(can also click on Preview, if you have already created the tag in the servers called AppId1:CS2 it will show 2 ComputerSystems).
If you haven’t already set the server tag, you need to then find and select the two servers and create a tag of Appid1:CS2, once the tag is created the service will show up in the Services tab.
